Spurs Vs West Ham: What can we expect?June 23rd, 2020
Tonight Spurs go against West Ham. Love a bit of nonviolent London rivalry…
On paper, we should win. We really should. We’ve beaten them before, the first time Mourinho faced West Ham as Tottenham’s coach we won 3-2 and I can’t see why we can’t channel the same energy but perhaps a bit more, like 3-1 perhaps.Since Jose Mourinho has suggested talks between the club and players over wage cuts will be determined on where they finish in the table we might see a pep in their step tonight.
Mourinho had to remind people that he can manage elite players and push them to success, listing their accolades, casually name dropping Drogba, Zlatan and Benzema from his sheet of straight facts he couldn’t wait to share the night before.
There’s a lot of doubts about whether Kane is going to be able to shine under Mourinho’s management and why he hasn’t scored as many goals. If you’re one of those doubters, where in the hell have you been? Kane was ill for 3 days at the start of the season, ruptured his thigh in Jan and was out for 67 days, missed 14 games and missed another game early March. Can we give him a bit of time to do his thing please?
OK so his performance against Manchester United wasn’t memorable but thinking this is anything more than just him getting back into the game after literally tearing his thigh is a reach for me.
I just want to see Tottenham attack tonight, with both Juan Foyth and Japhet Tanganga not playing due to injuries we’re not stacked defensively (have we ever been?), but we have 6, healthy attackers. Also, Lucas is back from injury and Dele Alli is back from his suspension so I expect a high energy game with Tottenham having more possession of the ball this time.
